Ontario Investing in First Indigenous-Led Hospice in Canada
Ontario is investing up to $1.25 million in the construction of the first Indigenous-led hospice in Canada.
This five-bed facility will be built in the Six Nations of the Grand River to provide culturally appropriate end-of-life care for Indigenous people and their loved ones, close to home.
Designed with community input, the hospice will honour Haudenosaunee traditions, offering spaces for family gatherings, traditional healing, and emotional support.
The construction of the hospice reflects Ontario’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality and culturally sensitive palliative care services for Indigenous peoples.
